It’s been a minute. More like 1,128,960 minutes (or 28 months). I can’t use Covid as an excuse for not publishing more because that turned out to be more liberating in many ways, especially if one was fortunate enough to remain healthy. Rather, I was incredibly busy. To catch you up:
Launched a kid into college
Led a professional association for one year and explored a merger of said organization for the second year
Accepted a full-time role as Director of Professional Development and Placement for a coding school
Left said full-time role to relaunch my business
Pivoted said business to an outsourced HR consultant model (don’t worry, I still do plenty of executive coaching)
Finally moved out of first gear with my Spanish skills by living and studying in Mexico for three weeks
Started a podcast, Nevermind the Gap, which is more business focused than this newsletter
Sent a kid abroad for a semester (someone had to take her to Florence!)
Spent true quality time with both sides of the family
So I’ve been busy - really busy in a good way. Because I am fortunate that I get to choose what to focus my energies on. For this, I am extremely grateful and privileged that I have the support of a partner who gets my ‘Pathless Path.’
I’ll get into the Pathless Path more in a future post. In short, a path centered around getting ahead is called the ‘default path,’ and most of us are on it. Paul Millerd's alternative is focused on doing work that matters, fueled by creativity, generosity, and helping others without the confines of a ‘traditional’ job or career path. Check out Paul’s book and his website if your interest is piqued.
I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to over the past 28 months. Drop me a line or two in the comments section. Looking back, you will see you’ve accomplished more than you give yourself credit for! Also, check out the Nevermind the Gap podcast I started with fellow coach Dr. X. Carmen Qadir and my outsourced HR Business Partner offering, Lindsey Honari Advisors.
Until next time,
Lindsey
